German Pancake Recipe.

Today, I'm mixing it up a bit and bringing you a recipe. We're going to be making German Pancakes and isn't this just the sexiest breakfast you have ever seen?! It tastes just as good as it looks and these are the ingredients you are going to need:

Watch the video tutorial below!

2     Tbsp Butter (50g)
2     Eggs
1/2  Cup  Plain Flour
1/2  Cup Milk
1     Tbsp Sugar
1     Tspn Vanilla Essence
1/4  Tspn Salt
       Mixing Bowl
Bowl or skillet with a medium height edge

Toppings: (all options are completely up to you, your options are endless! examples below)
Icing Sugar
Diced Fruit
Maple Syrup

  • Pre-heat your oven to 200c or 400f
  • Into your bowl, place in your butter and pop this into the hot oven to melt
  • While you're waiting, you can prepare your pancake mix
  • In your mixing bowl, whisk together your eggs
  • To this, add your flour, milk, sugar, vanilla essence and salt
  • Whisk together until is all combined and nice and smooth
  • Carefully take your first bowl with the melted butter out of the oven and quickly pour in your pancake mix
  • This goes straight back into the hot oven for around 20 minutes
  • During cooking, your pancake will significantly rise and start to brown
  • Once it has risen and looks cooked through, remove from the oven and allow to cool
  • The pancake will now deflate as it cools, still leaving a bowl sized rim around it's edge which is perfect for adding fresh, diced fruit or toppings of your choice
  • So, while it's cooling, prepare any toppings or filling. (I've chosen fresh diced mango)
  • Once cooled, I lightly dust my pancake with icing sugar, pop in my fresh mango pieces and drizzle with maple syrup - delish!
  • This is a dish that needs to be served immediately so leave the dishes to one side and tuck into your scrummy morning meal :)
